Float
Rock Creek Anglers

Floating with Rock Creek Anglers in a drift boat is a classic Western fly-fishing experience not to be missed – big water, wide-open landscapes, and the chance at truly memorable trout. Our float trips give anglers access to some of the most productive and scenic rivers in the Rocky Mountain West.

Montana’s Bighorn River
Widely regarded as one of the premier tailwaters in the country, the Bighorn is known for its abundance of healthy brown and rainbow trout – many pushing well over 18 inches. Consistent flows and prolific insect life create exceptional dry-fly opportunities throughout the season, making it a favorite for anglers of all skill levels.

Wyoming’s North Platte River (Grey Reef)
Set against the open plains of central Wyoming, the Grey Reef section of the North Platte offers a unique blend of solitude and size. Strong, hard-fighting rainbows, browns, and cutthroat trout thrive here, with a bit less pressure than many well-known tailwaters. It’s a place known not just for big fish – but for their attitude.

Wyoming’s Bighorn River
Upstream of Montana’s famous stretch lies a quieter, more technical fishery – downstream of the Wedding of the Waters. This section rewards thoughtful anglers with fewer crowds and the chance at truly impressive trout. Under the right conditions, it can offer excellent dry-fly fishing for some of the most striking fish in the region.

Specialty Options: Carp & Small-Water Floats
For something different, we offer seasonal sight-fishing for carp on local reservoirs – a challenging and rewarding pursuit for anglers looking to test their skills.

We also have access to a limited number of small-water float experiences – one-person boats on intimate streams that deliver a unique, adventure-forward take on float fishing in the Bighorns.

Whether you’re looking to cover miles of productive water or slow down and target rising fish, our float trips are tailored to your goals, skill level, and the conditions at hand.
